Pascal (known in Spanish as [xo?se ?peð?o ?alma?seða pas?kal]; born on April 2, 1975) is a well-known actor from Chile and the United States. After nearly two decades of minor roles in theater and on TV, Pascal had his breakout role as the character Oberyn Martell in the fourth installment of the HBO fantasy show *Game of Thrones* (released in 2014). He gained further prominence with the character of Javier Peña in the Netflix crime drama *Narcos* (2015–2017). Pascal subsequently appeared in the motion pictures *The Great Wall* (in 2016), *Kingsman: The Golden Circle* (released in 2017), *The Equalizer 2* (in 2018), and *Triple Frontier* (2019).
His lead roles as Din Djarin, also known as "The Mandalorian," in the Disney+ sci-fi show *The Mandalorian* (since 2019) and Joel in the HBO post-apocalyptic series *The Last of Us* (from 2023 onward) propelled him to international stardom, solidifying his reputation for portraying fatherly figures. In *The Last of Us*, he received numerous accolades, including a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe nomination. He extended his roles as parental figures in the movies such as *We Can Be Heroes* (2020), *Strange Way of Life* (2023), and as Fink the fox in *The Wild Robot* (2024). Pascal also appeared in high-budget movies such as *Wonder Woman 1984* (from 2020) and *Gladiator II* (2024).
Active in theatre since 1999, he debuted on Broadway as Edmund in a 2019 Broadway rendition of *King Lear*. He was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world in the year 2023.
